Operations Manager

We are currently recruiting an Operations Manager for our client based in North Dublin

 

The role will provide strong operational and management leadership for their customers. The role of the Operations Manager is to manage the day to day activities of a busy, fast moving and complex transport operation comprised of own fleet and approved 3rd party carriers. It will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all regulatory legislation and best practice guidelines. A key function will be to lead, manage, mentor and support the transport operations team. The team will comprise direct and indirect reports. The ideal candidate will likely come from a large transport company or similar activity and will have experience of improving cost efficiencies in transport operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Development of the transport delivery schedule to deliver on-going better service proposition to all customers & internal stakeholders;

·       Ensure fleet and overall transport team are working within legislative guidelines and any known breach is escalated as necessary and rectified immediately;

·       Liaise with drivers and 3rd party carriers on transport related queries that have been escalated;

Liaising with internal departments to ensure SLA’s are met and to ensure total Customer Satisfaction
Responsible for ensuring employees receive the relevant daily work and are trained to do same
·       Develop and maintain SOP for all Transport tasks and provide training to all appropriate staff;

·       Plan, organise and manage the work of subordinate staff to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with Group requirements;

·       Timely communication of transport requirements to all carriers and account managers;

·       Directly responsible for maintaining an efficient, effective and compliant transport fleet for their area of operation and for ensuring the departmental and company KPI’s are achieved;

·       Ensure timely resolution of customer complaints;

·       Strive for the continuous improvement in the service levels of the waste collection;

·       Develop and maintain effective relationships with Account Managers and customers;

·       Attend weekly Customer meetings and provide feedback, reports and metrics as appropriate;

·       Responsible for management of all Transport performance levels according to agreed KPI’s within agreed schedules and budgets;

·       Develop and maintain strong communication links with Account Managers and customers;


ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

·       Significant operational experience working in the area of transport/logistics;

·       Proven ability in delivering cost savings and meeting efficiency targets;

·       Previous experience of managing teams in a busy, dynamic and demanding work environment;

·       Excellent organisational skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders;

·       Possess strong communication, presentation and reporting skills;

·       Excellent IT skills including MS Office, MS Excel in particular;

·       Strong people and customer service focus;

·       Experience of Transport Management Systems;

·       System based route planning experience;

·       Transport/Logistics Qualification is beneficial, but not essential;

·       A genuine desire to develop self and team on a personal and professional level within the department and company;

·       A full driving licence.

 

SALARY:
depending on experience, plus a competitive package will be paid to the right candidate. In addition there will be career advancement opportunities to management level.
